John Legend Calls to Stop Brett Kavanaugh's Supreme Court Nomination
The singer explains why Brett Kavanaugh is "unfit" for the Supreme Court.
John Legend appears in a new ad opposing Brett Kavanaugh, who was accused of sexually assaulting Dr. Christine Blasey Ford. The singer has added his voice to the growing number calling for the Supreme Court nominee to be disqualified from serving.
Dr. Christine Blasey Ford accused Kavanaugh of sexually assaulting her when they were both at high school in the 1980s. Despite the accusation, Kavanaugh would still be able to be voted onto the Supreme Court, where he would serve for the rest of his life.
In the video, Legend is speaking out against the nomination, and calls "Who becomes the next Supreme Court Justice is the decision of a lifetime — your lifetime,” he says, adding,
Brett Kavanaugh's troubling views on the issues that matter most and his rushed confirmation process make him unfit for a lifetime appointment to the Supreme Court.
The video, produced by the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund Inc., also includes other members of the public echoing Legend's sentiments.
