Jonathan Majors Continues to Lose Work Following His Arrest
Jonathan Majors has continued to lose work during his ongoing legal troubles following an alleged domestic violence incident.
Just days after being dropped from his talent manager and PR company, Jonathan Majors has been removed from multiple entertainment projects. On Tuesday (April 18), Deadline reported that the 33-year-old actor will no longer star in a feature adaptation of the 2004 Walter Mosley novel, The Man in My Basement, along with an unannounced Otis Redding biopic, titled Otis and Zelma, from multimedia company Fifth Season.
A replacement for Majors in The Man In My Basement, which marks Nadia Latif’s directorial debut and is also slated to star Willem Dafoe, is underway.
Similar to his canceled ad campaign with the U.S. Army, the Creed III star has been axed from a campaign for the Texas Rangers MLB team. In his youth, Majors lived in various cities in Texas, including Dallas, Georgetown, and Cedar Hill, ultimately graduating from Duncanville High School in 2008.
While Marvel Studios has yet to reveal if Majors will continue in the MCU franchise as Kang the Conqueror, sources have confirmed that the actor has concluded filming his scenes in the second season of the Disney Plus show, Loki.
The latest on Majors comes in the wake of the actor being arrested, and later released, after a March 25 domestic violence incident involving a 30-year-old woman. At the time of the incident, the unnamed woman was taken to the hospital with “minor injuries to her head and neck,” according to authorities.
The actor’s criminal defense attorney, Priya Chaudhry, has denied the allegations, even claiming to have video evidence that maintains Majors’ innocence.
“We are quickly gathering and presenting evidence to the District Attorney with the expectation that all charges will be dropped imminently,” Chaudhry said in a statement last month.
Majors is scheduled to appear in court on May 8, after being charged with multiple counts of harassment and assault.
