Juicy J Shares 'Mental Trillness' Mixtape Featuring Gangsta Boo
Juicy J releases Mental Trillness, a mental health-themed project on Friday.
Juicy J releases his latest mixtape Mental Trillness.
The entire project follows a theme that highlights mental health and the dangers of not seeking support. This sends a message that even in a fast-paced life, everyday people and artists should seek therapy or confide in trusted individuals rather than deal with depression, schizophrenia, and other mental health issues alone. This theme also makes it apparent that Juicy J and his fellow Three Six Mafia bandmates are still coping with Gangsta Boo's death.
On Mental Trillness, an 18-track project, the Memphis legend enlists Finesse2tymes, Xavier Wulf, and La Chat. Rising rappers Aleza, Slimeroni, and K Carbon also appear on the tape. It’s also no surprise that Gangsta Boo received a tribute on “Follow Home Robbers.” Her verse on this track is pulled from 2014’s “Come Off Dat.” With her recent passing, it’s fitting that the producer/rapper carved out some space for the late female rapper.
On another track titled “Work Out” which features Finesse2Tymes, Juicy J also interpolates Gangsta Boo’s “Where Dem Dollas At.” Juicy J is also using his platform to support Aleza, Slimeroni and K Carbon who first landed on our radar alongside GloRilla and Gloss Up with Hittkidd's explosive track "Set The Tone."
Most recently, news emerged that a posthumous album was on the horizon for Gangsta Boo. TMZ reported that Juicy J and DJ Paul would be involved with the release in addition to Run The Jewels, Latto, La Chat and Skepta. Sources say Gangsta Boo died of a suspected drug overdose on January 1.
