Justin Timberlake Covers The Jacksons - "Shake Your Body (Down To The Ground)" For BBC 1
The sultan of contemporary pop Justin Timberlake dropped by BBC 1's Live Lounge this weekend to grace his British constituents with a funkified performance, covering The Jacksons' 1978 smash of a single "Shake Your Body (Down To The Ground.)" The bustling, fully choreographed bit was fresh off the heals of the debut of several new tracks just days prior at the iHeart Radio Music Fest in Las Vegas. JT strutted his patented moves and fedora backed by uber-band The Tennessee Kids, begging the audience to "shovel the funk," for there was quite the surplus during the Dirty Mind era breakdown.
The reinvigorated pop star has been enjoying the fruits of his comeback, pulling out all the stops on what is shaping up to be a monumental year with the second installment of this year's release The 20/20 Experience. Due out September 30th, the album promises to feature an arresting list of collaborators including Jay-Z, Drake, Pharrelland longtime songwriting partner and producer Timbaland. JT promises the upcoming episode to be "the darker, more experienced older sister" of its' predecessor, with remnants of his wildly successful sophomore LP FutureSex/LoveSounds running through the veins of the upcoming release. With a world tour launching this Halloween in support of the new installment, two starring roles in films slated for release later this year and the album on the way, 2013 might be the most teeming year of the Memphis star's already lengthy and multifaceted career. You can pre-order The 20/20 Experience - 2 of 2 now on iTunes, but be sure to peep his cover of The Jacksons hit below.
