Juvenile Fans Want Him to Perform on NPR Tiny Desk Concert
New Orleans rap legend Juvenile will have his own NPR Tiny Desk Concert set thanks to Twitter.
Looks like New Orleans rap legend Juvenile will have a future spot on NPR's Tiny Desk.
Less than one week after Miami rhymer Trina performed on the show, a Juve fan tweeted NPR asking if the 48-year-old former Cash Money Records artist could appear on Tiny Desk.
The Magnolia Projects native, who recently had a cameo in the House Party remake, was seemingly unfamiliar with the music program, responding “wtf is a tiny desk” followed by laughing emojis and “no.” Fans asked the “Back That Azz Up” rapper to reconsider, including Freddie Gibbs, citing his 2000s era classics “Slow Motion” and “Rodeo.”
Juve ultimately gave in, telling Twitter followers to get him to 10,000 retweets for him to reconsider stopping by the Tiny Desk. Now that he’s halfway to the goal, we suggest that he adds “In My Life” to the setlist.
By Wednesday afternoon, Juvenile met the criteria — 10,00 retweets — and confirmed that he would be performing on Tiny Desk.
Juve, who last released collaborative album Just Another Gangsta with Cash Money Records co-founder Birdman in 2019, has recently launched hard drink Juvie Juice. In partnership with Urban South Brewery, the drink is an adult version of a half lemonade and half iced tea, traditionally known as an Arnold Palmer.
Juvie Juice came out so good that everyone is gonna want it in their life!” said Juvenile in a statement. “Urban South did their thing and it’s extra special for me because the brewery is a few blocks from where I grew up on Market Street. It’s gonna be a hot summer so get yourself a cold Juvie Juice — and drink responsibly, because too many Juvie Juices will have you moving in slow motion!”
