Kali Uchis Thanks Fans w/ Soul-Soaked Freebie "All Or Nothing"
Kali Uchis is quickly emerging as the year's Columbian queen of kush-kissed left-field ism with a severe taste for distilled soul. Nowhere is that more clear than the latest loosie to hit the internets "All Or Nothing," which was extended to us in an act of sheer gratitude for the love she's been getting for the pulp-ish clip she dropped last month for "Know What I Want." If you've been keeping up, you may have noticed that the DMV transplant attacks classic chops with the tact of a sharpened MC, embedding her billowing croon into cuts that range from the smokey, jazzed-up funk of Roy Ayers to the source of her latest joint, Latin Soul legend Ralfi Pagan's "I Could Never Hurt You Girl." But that's not to say that swagger jacking is afoot, rather, that Uchis is spinning compelling, candied new melodies over grooves that have been with us for years on end, yet manages to present them in a manner that makes them feel like they just got off the cutting room floor. Brava, young Uchis. We look forward to whatever's next. Listen to Kali Uchis' new cut "All Or Nothing" below and hold tight, as her Por Vida EP should be dropping early next year.
