Kanye West Previews Collab With André 3000 & Touches On Rebuilding Chicago In New Interview
In a new interview, Kanye West shares a clip from a collaboration with André 3000.
In the wee hours of Thursday morning, an interview featuring Kanye West was rolled out providing a closer look at what the rapper has been up to days after the release of Donda.
The rollout hasn't consisted of many moments of West declaring public comments. This time around, he's taken a quiet approach. But, that changes with the release of a new interview with German publication Bild. During the exclusive conversation, he shared he's in Germany to "meet with architects and artists to build the best architecture to help rebuild Chicago."
He also shared he'd return to the studio after this and that God placed him on Earth to create music. During another portion of the interview, he previewed a track with André 3000. A snippet hit Twitter.
"I’m not staying [in Germany] for long," West said according to translators. "We will work on the school and then on new music. … God put me on this earth to make music. God put Demna [Gvasalia] here to design. God put Tadao Ando here to create architecture. God gifted us Turrell. God all sent us here for a certain reason and I have to make music."
As you may know, the entire event was live-streamed and it garnered attention on social media similar to the other album listening events that were hosted in Atlanta, Georgia. In total, the video gives fans a glimpse into Kanye’s ever-changing universe.
The visual release follows Donda’s drop. The widely anticipated 26-track release arrived on Sunday and immediately began picking up traction. Features from a myriad of artists were the main focus of the album, a few that were the most talked-about included Jay-Z, DaBaby, Fivio Foreign, Baby Keem, and the Sunday Service Choir.
Rewinding back a bit, but when Kanye brought Marilyn Manson and DaBaby onstage for his latest Donda event, he was under fire. On Wednesday, a new report dropped alleging he invited former President Donald Trump to join him on stage at Chicago’s Soldier Field.
Per Rap Radar, “Kanye reached out to Donald Trump’s team to get the former President to make an appearance alongside him and join DaBaby, Marilyn Manson, and Kim Kardashian in Chicago,” said a source.
West was an avid supporter of Trump before he announced he himself would be running for president, he also visited the White House while wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat. Past inflammatory remarks about slavery are also hard to not bring up here.
An additional source shared West enjoys pressing buttons and there will be other publicity stunts in the near future. The source also added, “I wouldn’t put it past him to turn up with Bill Cosby.”
Donda broke Apple Music’s 2021 U.S. record for most streams in 24 hours after it was unveiled on streaming platforms with 60 million plays. On Spotify, it received 94 million worldwide streams. This isn’t surprising given the fact that with each album release West always manages to create a moment that leads fans and critics alike to either talk about or listen to his latest works.
