Kanye West & Drake's "Free Larry Hoover" Concert to Stream on Amazon Prime and IMAX
Set to be held on December 9th at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles, California, the 'Free Larry Hoover' show will be streamed on Amazon Prime and select IMAX Theaters.
After years of rivalry, Kanye West and Drake have squashed their differences in the name of prison reform. The two are joining forces for the "Free Larry Hoover" concert, airing live on Amazon Prime and IMAX, with Kanye West acting as headliner and Drake popping up as a special guest. The "historic" show will be going down at the L.A. Coliseum . On November 16th, music executive and Rap-A-Lot CEO tweeted a picture of the rappers during a meet up in Canada, subtly announcing when the concert would be held.
In support of the Gangster Disciples co-founder — who is currently serving six life sentences — the event page for the benefit concert explains that it will “raise awareness and support for Larry Hoover and the cause of prison and sentencing reform.”
As West's first stadium live performance in five years, the 'Free Larry Hoover' show comes just months after the release of his tenth studio album, Donda, which has received three nominations for the 2022 Grammy Awards, including Best Rap Album. Following his Donda release events in August, the 'Free Larry Hoover' concert is likely to have an artistic instillation design after CBS LA photojournalist John Schreiber tweeted a video of the stage being built.
The concert also marks Drakes first public performance since Astroworld Festival on November 5th, which is facing an onslaught of lawsuits after the festival claimed the lives of 10 attendees. Despite being up for two nominations at the 2022 Grammy Awards — including Best Rap Album and Best Rap Performance for "Way 2 Sexy" featuring Future and Young Thug—The New York Times reported that Drake has withdrawn from the categories altogether.
'Free Larry Hoover' tickets at the L.A. Coliseum event and select IMAX theaters are now on sale via Ticketmaster.
