Kanye West, Fivio Foreign & Alicia Keys Remake "Empire State of Mind" on "City of Gods"
Fivio Foreign and Kanye 'Ye' West share their second collaboration "City of Gods" with a guest appearance from Alicia Keys.
Fivio Foreign is starting the rollout for his debut album B.I.B.L.E. with the appropriately-titled "City of God." The song marks his second collaboration with Kanye West(now Ye) who he worked with on DONDA cut "Off the Grid." On "City of God" two are joined by Alicia Keys who sings in a similar vein of her 2009 JAY-Z collaboration "Empire State of Mind."
On the track, Fivio shouts out the late PopSmoke, claiming that he's now taken over as the "King of New York" while Keys interpolates 2015 The Chainsmokers track "New York City." "City of Gods" is also dedicated to Fivio's late friend Tahjay “T Dott Woo” Dobson a fellow Pop Smoke collaborator who was tragically killed earlier this month, according to ABC News.
"T Dot. That’s my baby boy,” Fivio said in a statement. “I never thought I’d be doing this without you here with me. You supposed to be here with me but you gon always be the Prince in the City of Gods. Your name will forever live through me. Long Live Prince T Dot.”
The song also arrives just weeks ahead of Ye's new album DONDA 2, which is slated to release on February 22nd. During an interview with The Shade Room last August, Fivio announced that B.I.B.L.E. will be executive produced by Ye, calling him a "super genius".
While a tracklist for Fivio's album hasn't been revealed, it may feature A$AP Rocky after Fivio shared a snippet of their upcoming collaboration on Instagram Live.
B.I.B.L.E. is set to release on March 25th.
