Kanye's 'Jesus Is King' Album Reaches No. 1 on Billboard 200

This follows the release of his documentary style film directed by Nick Knight.

Kanye West's ninth studio album Jesus Is King has debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's 200 chart. This is the rapper's ninth consecutive debut at No. 1.

Available on October 25, Jesus Is King earned 196.9 million on-demand audio streams despite its delayed release. In total, the album earned 264,000 equivalent album units, 109,000 were in album sales. According to Billboard, West's only album to not reach the top spot on Billboard's 200 chart was his 2004 debut album College Dropout.

Jesus Is King's top ranking means Kanye ties with Eminem for the most consecutive No. 1 debuts. Billboard also reports that experienced the fifth biggest-streaming week of 2019. Additionally, with 196.9 million streams, this was West's biggest streaming week ever, is album Ye which dropped in 2018 received 180.1 million streams upon its release.

Ahead of the official drop of the album, West performed Sunday Service sets throughout the country. The same day Jesus Is King was unveiled he also rolled out a documentary-themed film directed by Nick Knight with the same name, it raked in over $1 million in its first weekend.
