Kanye West's (Mostly) Humble Return To The Breakfast Club
I suppose we're all well aware of the overwhelming tension that was in The Breakfast Club studio the last time Kanye West brought himself through. If not, let's just say things came to a boil and quickly. But this morning's return had a whole other energy to it from the get. Not that the BC crew was any less ruthless in their line of questioning (why Beyonce? did you even hear Beck's album? why do the new Yeezys look like Uggs?) but it seemed like Ye's minimal mumble was caused by a slice of humble pie, full chew.
Yeah, It's been kinda hard to get in his corner as of late (we did that anyway) but forget the quotables for a second. He may consider himself to be the most influential person in the sneaker game, but he also revealed that he never wanted to be subject to the breathless hype and tall price points of that culture. He may have almost given Beck the shrug at the Grammys, but he also admitted to having never heard it and at a recent dinner with Taylor Swift (shit you not) they played the record at the restaurant and it actually caught his ear. He even speaks to where the concept for "Wolves" came from, claiming the idea was born from a Watch The Throne-styled release that he was contemplating putting out with rap-game boy-wonder Drake. I will neither defend or trash the man, but it does seem we're starting to see a warmer side of Kanye. And I will leave it at that. Watch Kanye speak to embracing the joy of life, his fashion game exploits, a new documentary project, the anxiously-awaited Yeezus follow-up and a whole lot more on The Breakfast Club below.
