West appeared at the TMZ Newsroom Tuesday morning with Conservative pundit Candace Owens to speak about his choice of wearing Donald Trump's "Make America Great Again" hat and why he believes slavery was a choice. Yes, that's right. Kanye "George Bush Hates Black People" West thinks that slavery was a choice.
"When you hear about slavery for 400 years. For 400 years? That sounds like a choice," the rapper said. "Like, you was there for 400 years and it was all of y'all?"
The controversial remark led to an argument between West and Red Pill podcast host Van Lathan.
"Kanye, you're entitled to your opinion, you're entitled to believe whatever you want. But there are real-life consequences behind everything you just said," Lathan said. "...Frankly, I'm disappointed, I'm appalled, and I'm unbelievably hurt by the fact that you have morphed into something that, to me, is not real."
In his interview with T.I., West tried to justify why he wears a MAGA hat.
“Me putting the hat on forces the evolution…I’m getting this energy, positive or negative, agreeing with me or disagreeing me…that’s like sharpens the diamond and s**t,” West says in a video. “Our mind, our consciousness, the way we’re thinking, just breaking some s**t.”
“When I wear that hat it’s like a fight for equality,” West adds. “Like, ‘Oh I can wear that hat too.'”
