Please Add Graffiti: Kanye West - 'Yeezus' Redesigned By ESPO, James Franco, Mr. Cartoon & More
As the Art Wars between Kanye West and Jay-Z heat up, GQ Magazine joined the fun with a little conceptual project of their own. Taking Kanye at his word when he printed "Please Add Graffiti" (and not much else except a red sticker and a Def Jam logo) on a series of posters that were the only real promotional tools for his album/art project/declaration of delayed adolescence Yeezus, GQ sent copies to Philly graf head turned art star ESPO, actor/artist James Franco, Mister Cartoon of Soul Assassins fame and T-shirt auteur Wil Fry (to name a few) and invited them to do just that. The results (visible in the gallery above) are extremely varied and thoroughly enjoyable, replacing Warhol-sized ego and celebrity obsession with a subtletly and conceptual playfulness more in line Sol LeWitt(Sol Assassins, baby!) Check 'em on out--and please add graffiti to your own Yeezus.
