KAYTRANADA Wants to Release Another Album Within Months
In an interview with Apple Music, KAYTRANADA revealed his plans to release leftovers from BUBBA in the coming months.
Fresh off the surprise release of his new album BUBBA, KAYTRANADA sat down with Beats 1's Zane Lowe to discuss the project. In the brief interview, he revealed that he's planning on dropping yet another new project in the very near future.
Lowe pointed out that KAYTRANADA said he'd been working for over two years straight after the release of his critically acclaimed 2016 album 99.9%. Lowe continued to ask how much music was left over after BUBBA's release, to which KAYTRANADA replied "a whole album." Lowe probed further, asking if the unreleased tracks will ever see the light of day. "There's just so many tracks that didn't make it," he said, before revealing his plans for future releases. "I intended to put it out in two parts, I'm definitely going to do something different on the next one."
He noted that there were numerous leftover features from rappers, specifically Anderson .Paak and UK rapper Rat Boy. At the moment, he's awaiting sample clearance to place the songs. "The thing is," he says, "the next one is just what didn't make the album and other instrumentals in between. So that's going to be a more personal one. And I think I'm going to drop it just in a couple of months. I'm not going to make it that long of a wait."
BUBBA — which features appearances from Pharrell, Teedra Moses, Masego, GoldLink, Mick Jenkins, and more — is now available on all major streaming platforms.
