Kaytranada Taps Badbadnotgood For New Remix Of Tuxedo's "The Right Time"

Kaytranada may have just dropped the underground's essential summer jam. Deploying hard-stepping drums courtesy of jazz cats Badbadnotgood, the young producer prodigy has remixed Tuxedo's "The Right Time," turning what was once an 80s boogie revival into a neo-cosmic funk riot.
Tuxedo, of course, is the new(ish) project from Mayer Hawthorne and Jake One, a group whose soul purpose appears to be recreating 80s synth funk for the 21st century masses. But with Kaytranada swapping out their 808s and bopping synths for live drums and more spectral chords, "The Right Time" has been hereby reborn as something futuristic beamed backwards toward today. (Side note: Kaytra's use of BBNG drums makes perfect sense, considering his past re-touching of their single "Kaleidoscope") It's a gorgeous and irresistible rework from a young sound caresser who seems incapable of doing wrong--the more Kaytranada remixes we get in 2015, the better.
Tuxedo is still riding high off the release of their debut self-titled LP, which you can pick up on vinyl courtesy of Stones Throw Records or purchase digital-like via iTunes. Listen to Kaytranada's top-notch remix of "The Right Time" below and be prepared for some involuntary head-nodding, toe-tapping and hip-shaking.
