Kelela Announces New 'Hallucinogen' EP w/ A Transformative Clip For "A Message"
Kelela is back, folks. The lovely lilter and crafter of smokey, future-minded r&b has reemerged to announce her Hallucinogen EP with the release of a clip for her minimal new cut "A Message." The track is a deep (somber even) synth-heavy contemplation of a tortured relationship, while the video -- helmed by visionary director Daniel Sannwald -- mirrors that moody musicality and the lo-fi r&b schemes of the track, focusing on Kels' lone silhouette as pulsating and shifting backlights illuminate her bare body, eventually dissolving into an anime-syled animation. It's a stunning treatment that bodes awfully well for this new chapter in the Kelela saga, wherein we're treated to a deluxe repackaging of her stellar Cut 4 Metape on top of the forthcoming Hallucinogen EP, which is already promising to be something of an audible treat. Below you will find the transformative visual for "A Message" and the full track list for the new EP, which is slated for a May 5th drop. We've heard that there's also a full debut LP in the works for the Fall, so be sure to hold tight for all of the ear and eye candy.
