Kenan Thompson On Kanye West's 'SNL' Pro-Trump Rant: "It Became Extremely Uncomfortable Extremely Quickly"
Kenan Thompson recalled the incident during a recent interview on Hot 97.
Back in 2018, Kanye Westoffered an unaired rant aboutDonald Trump following a performance on Saturday Night Live. (During that performance he wore a "Make America Great Again" hat.) Kenan Thompson was present throughout the moment and recently recounted how uncomfortable it all was during an appearance on Ebro in the Morning on Hot 97.

"Do you recall the Kanye West night?" Kenan was asked.
"Thoroughly," the comedian responded before going on. "It's a moment in the show where it's like, sometimes they'll do a last song over the good night credits or whatever. So, you know...U2 did it, McCartney did it, and they actually like go to the other stage and get with they band and do a whole performance. When I saw that he was standing on the regular stage I was like, 'Oh, he's just gonna take a moment and have a moment basically.'"
"...it became extremely uncomfortable extremely quickly. ... I was also tired as hell, it's a long day," he added.
Thompson then said that he felt bad for West, but also denied the rapper's claims that he was being "bullied" into not wearing his MAGA hat backstage at SNL. "I'm not trying to overly promote somebody that's getting impeached, but each man's prerogative I guess," Thompson said.
West no longer wears his MAGA hat, now instead devoting his life to God and his Sunday Service events, which he recently brought to Joel Osteen's megachurch.
