Kendrick Lamar Is Not Here For That Lil Wayne Retirement Talk
Though they may be a generation apart, Kendrick Lamar and Lil Wayne have quite a bit in common. Both have repped their respective cities like few else and have been heralded as "the greatest rapper alive" at some point in their careers. And Kendrick's always saluted Lil Tunechi for his pioneering delivery and fashion sense. So when Wayne shook the rap world last week by implying his retirement in a defeated tweet, it was only natural that K Dot voiced his descent. Today a clip of Kendrick rhyming his favorite Wayne lines from the studio surfaced. He runs through "Gangsta Shit" and the Hot Boys anthems "Ridin'" and "Respect My Mind," breaking midway to exclaim his dissatisfaction.
"I'm in the studio doing motherfucking features. I seen you 2007, 2008. I see you knock out ten motherfucking features in a row back to back. No. No!"
Watch as Kendrick Lamar raps his favorite Lil Wayne cuts and animately refutes the retirement rumors in the clip below. Whether you're a Wayne fan of today or yesteryear, the sentiment should ring loud and clear. Revisit their 2014 collaboration "Buy The World," produced by Mike WiLL Made-It.
