You Can Buy a Special Edition Kendrick Lamar ‘To Pimp A Butterfly’ Vinyl for $2,500
In collaboration with Gucci, Interscope Records has released a limited-edition vinyl of the Kendrick Lamar classic To Pimp A Butterfly.
Kendrick Lamar's 2015 classic To Pimp A Butterfly is getting a new look courtesy of Interscope Records and Gucci. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Interscope, the music label has teamed with curated social marketplace NTWRK for a limited-edition vinyl series called Interscope Reimagined. As part of the lineup — which includes albums and songs from Interscope acts like 2Pac, Dr. Dre, Eminem, 6lack, N.E.R.D. and more — world class visual artists like KAWS, Amaoko Boafo and Kehinde Wiley pay homage to these artists with new artwork.
In a special vinyl packaged by Gucci, Lamar’s TPAB comes with a print designed by South Central visual artist Lauren Halsey along with a custom linen-wrapped vinyl jacket. With only 100 copies of the vinyl available, the Reimagined album sells for $2,500 apiece. The vinyl begins shipping on Thursday, May 11.
While TPAB marked Lamar’s first Best Rap Album win at the Grammys in 2016, the pgLang co-founder earned a best-selling vinyl release in 2022 with a 10-year anniversary edition of his 2013 LP Good Kid, M.A.A.D City. After TPAB, Lamar followed with 2017’s DAMN. and last year’s Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers, both which earned the Grammy for Best Rap Album in 2018 and 2023, respectively.
While Kendrick Lamar wrapped his Big Steppers tour last December, he’s scheduled to perform at multiple music festivals this summer, including San Francisco’s Outside Lands and Chicago’s Lollapalooza. All profits from Interscope Reimagined will go towards the Iovine and Young Academy high school in South Los Angeles.
