Lexii Alijai, Rising Rapper And Granddaughter Of Zapp's Roger Troutman, Dead At 21

Alijai had appeared on Kehlani's 2015 single "Jealous."

Alexis Alijai Lynch, better known as the up-and-coming rapper Lexii Alijai, is dead at 21.

The artist, who was based out of St. Paul, Minnesota, was announced dead on New Year’s Day via social media by her friends and family, according to the Star Tribune. No official details are available on Alijai's death yet.

Raeisah Clark, one of Alijai's cousins, first shared the news of the artist's death Wednesday afternoon on Facebook.

As the Tribune notes, Alijai came from a musical family. She was the granddaughter of Roger Troutman, the frontman for funk and R&B band Zapp, and the daughter of Roger Troutman Jr., who recorded for Capitol Records in the late 1980s.

She also collaborated with Kehlani, appearing on the Oakland singer's 2015 single "Jealous." The single appeared on Kehlani's debut commercial mixtape You Should Be Here, which received a Grammy nomination for Best Urban Contemporary Album at the 2016 Grammy Awards.

Kehlani also shared a post about Alijai on Instagram.

A candle light vigil will be held for Alijai at Raspberry Island in St. Paul on January 4.
