Lil Uzi Vert Changes Pronouns to They/Them
While prepping new EP Red & White, it appears that Lil Uzi Vert has changed their pronouns to they/them on Instagram.
Lil Uzi Vert quietly changed their pronouns to they/them on their Instagram bio over the weekend. The 26-year-old rapper, whose real name is Symere Woods, has not commented on the change, but they/them pronouns are often used by non-binary and gender fluid people who identify as neither a man or woman. The change to Uzi's pronouns is timely, as International Non-Binary People's Day was last week on July 14.
On Sunday, Uzi surprised fans with new track "Space Cadet," which was uploaded to their SoundCloud. The song will be featured on their forthcoming EP Red & White, which will precede their third studio album, P!NK.
Uzi is currently in a relationship with City Girls member JT, who Uzi brought out during their set at Yo Gotti's Birthday Bash concert in Memphis last Friday (July 15).
The two have been dating since 2019, going public with their relationship in 2021. Although Uzi and JT had a brief split in April of last year, the couple has been going strong, supporting each other at various music festivals over the summer.
Uzi isn't new to gender fluidity in their appearance. In 2018, while Uzi went to shop at Round Two on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles, the rapper revealed their openness in wearing women's clothing in a brief chat with The Hollywood Fix.
"I bought everything in the men's section," Uzi said. "There's nothing else to buy, I bought everything, literally."
