Lil Wayne Cuts LA Tour Stop Short After Lukewarm Crowd Response
Lil Wayne abruptly ended the final show of his ‘Welcome to Tha Carter Tour,’ accusing crowd members of disrespecting his Young Money artists.
Lil Wayne’s final ‘Welcome to Tha Carter’ tour stop came to an early end last week. On Saturday night (May 13), Lil Wayne accused his Los Angeles crowd at The Wiltern Theatre in Koreatown of disrespecting his fellow performers, who are artists on his Young Money Entertainment roster. Prior to ending the show mid-performance, Wayne, legal name Dwayne Carter Jr., gave a bizarre rant.
The 40-year-old briefly retreated backstage when artists Lil Twist, Yaj Kader, and Allan Cubas took over to entertain the crowd. Before Cubas could perform his second song, Carter returned, grabbed the microphone, and wrapped up the set.
“We appreciate it, but we ain’t about to be bending over backwards for these folks. We work too hard for this shit. We work way too hard,” he said.
“This my muthafuckin’ artist Allan, that was Twist, that was Yaj; we are Young Money. We appreciate y’all time,” he continued before setting the microphone down and signaling to his crew that the show was over.

Of course, attendees thought the Funeral rapper was joking, some chanting “Weezy” and standing around for ten minutes until house lights went up and people were instructed to leave the venue.
I’ll never look at Lil Wayne the same after tonight. He really cancelled his concert mid show bc the audience (I am the audience) sat down while he took a smoke and piss break. @Ticketmaster@TMFanSupport Refunds are in order. pic.twitter.com/ZdS4k7jWec

Fans promptly went to social media with their grievances, saying that the New Orleans native was acting entitled, while others joked about his artists’ low Spotify follower count.

This is the dude Lil Wayne cancelled his LA show over. A dude with less Monthly Listeners than there were people in the room. Embarrassing. pic.twitter.com/UVlN9TLe7w

With the “Welcome to Tha Carter” tour having ended, it might be a while before the recent Global Impact Award recipient returns to the stage.
