Lin-Manuel Miranda Is Curating The Hamilton Mixtape w/ Chance The Rapper, Busta Rhymes + More
If the Grammy win is any indication, Hamilton has certainly had a triumphant year. And with plans of expanding well beyond its current base at Richard Rodgers Theater in Times Square, we'll need a little musical revamping a la director/writer/actor Lin-Manuel Miranda's supreme curatorial skills.
According to Rolling Stone, in a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Miranda claimed that "people are coming out of the woodwork, knocking on the door" to contribute to TheHamilton Mixtape, which was the name of his show while it was being workshopped in 2012. Amongst those knocking, Chance The Rapper, Busta Rhymes, Queen Latifah, Sia, Regina Spektor and plenty of others seem to be tapped for the project, mostly comprised of covers and songs inspired by the hit Broadway production. We've yet to receive word on the precise team behind TheHamilton Mixtape, but with Questlove and Black Thought serving as the executive producers on the cast recording and what feels like the entirety of the hip-hop community behind Miranda's genius, anything is possible.
We'll have more on The Hamilton Mixtape as details arrive, but if you're looking to see the show that inspired the tape and captivated a nation, hit the link below to see your ticketing options.
