Pass The Popcorn: Watch Legends Of The South Tell The Tale Of Pimp C In A New Documentary
At the close of 2015, Long Live The Pimp, a posthumous release from the estate of Pimp C, aligned the likes of Bun B, A$AP Rocky, Lil Wayne, and the gamut of southern, northern, eastern and western wordsmiths to raise up for the Pimp. Today, however, an accompanying documentary treatment, helmed by Complex, has arrived by the same name, compiling interviews with Bun, Organized Noize, Jermaine Dupree and a bevy of southern legends (as well as east coast heavyweights like NaS) to tell Pimp C's tale of ascending to the very top tier of hip-hop iconography upon his tragic lean-induced death in 2007.
Clocking in at just under 30-minutes, Long Live The Pimp, takes us from his Port Arthur beginnings to the formation of UGK to his infamous appearance on Jay Z's "Big Pimpin'," which introduced the south to Hov, as well as the north to C. Amongst hip-hop's most cherished voices, Pimp's still holds the title as the south's most drawn, most slurred, most swaggering but most of all, most authentic. Find out just how Pimp C rose and then conquered the game in the Long Live The Pimp down below. Grab a copy of the posthumous album on iTunes today.
