Watch The First Full Episode Of Major Lazer's Cartoon Series
Prolific dancehall DJ and human Looney Toon Diplo finally made the complete leap into the animated realm last night with the FXX network premiere of the Major Lazer cartoon series. Early news of the television series first came our way last fall, but now we've got a full taste of what to expect from it--and it's a wild ride. Episode 1 (which is labeled "Bad Seed") introduces us to the titular protagonist, a paramilitary freedom fighter who's overdue for little time off. The Major pockets a certain special green substance as he makes plans for a much-needed solitary "high-atus," and proceeds to fly around what appears to be an alternate universe Jamaica on the wings of a bird. Pursued by his well-meaning friend Benny, M. Lazer almost succeeds in his ganja quest, until Benny falls victim to a fearsome neon monster and is in need of a little saving.
As an opening episode, "Bad Seed" is a mostly successful bit of television that offers everything you'd expect from an ML outing. There's plenty of drug references, a bit of over-the-top violence, loads of dancehall--you get the picture. At less than 10 minutes long, it's plenty easy to take in, so watch it below and stay tuned for more saturday morning-style shenanigans from Major Lazer.
