Stream Mary J. Blige's Emotional New Album 'Strength of a Woman' Now
Mary J. Blige's personal life has dominated the tabloids recently. The messy stuff around her divorce from her husband is at the center of her new album, Strength of a Woman, which is now available on all streaming services.
The album features a number of A-listers, from Missy Elliott to Quavo to Kaytranada to Kanye West, who appears on the album's third single "Love Yourself."
Strength of a Woman is Blige's first album since The London Sessions, which came out in 2014. Amazingly enough, 2017 is the 25-year anniversary of her groundbreaking debut album What's the 411?
In a recent interview with NPR, she spoke about Strength of a Woman and her classic debut. Speaking on What's the 411?'s impact, she said:
"I wasn't conscious that I was doing something different in that moment. I just knew that I loved hip-hop and R&B, and I was doing what I loved. And I didn't realize what we had done 'til later, like, "Wow, we created a whole genre of music."
She also mentioned that she likes to work out to that album, which is just a great thing to learn.
