The Internet's Matt Martians Seamlessly Cuts a Gem on 'Rhythm Roulette'
Hopefully by now you've all had the opportunity to acquaint yourself with Matt Martians, the producer and key player behind The Internet's signature minimalism. If not on The Internet's Grammy-nominatedEgo Death, then perhaps on either his own solo project, The Drum Chord Theory, or any number of Odd Future's compilation tapes as The Super 3 or Jet Age of Tomorrow.
Today, Martians treats Rhythm Roulette to a quick crash course in how to cut gems. Hitting NYC's Good Records for the ritual three random selections, Martians returned to the studio with unknown treasures. With his arsenal set, Martians embarked on his first successful sampling voyage, looping a tabla line before slowing it down and lacing it with keys, bass and vocals. It's not exactly a masterpiece, but when's the last time you saw someone complete a thought this quickly?
See and hear what Matt Martians does with his first-ever sample on Rhythm Roulette below. Pick up a copy of his solo debut The Drum Chord Theory on iTunes today and hold tight for our exclusive interview with the producer in the days ahead.
