Mayer Hawthorne - "Her Favorite Song" [Official Video]
Fearlessly bucking the kitten trend that is running rap these days, Mayer Hawthorne released an official video full of adorable doggies for his moonlight-serenader "Her Favorite Song." Par for the course with a Mayer Hawthorne video there are a gaggle of highly attractive women being subjected to advances from a variety of um, horndogs in anthropomorphic attire (warning: some of the slo-mo, soft focus tongue wagging going on here is bordering on NSFW animal porn). There is even a Spuds MacKenzie lookalike making a brief cameo as a suave bartendender (its right after Hawthorne's cameo in a Rolf-D-Dog suit) and the look and feel of the whole video is clearly inspired by the 1980s advertising icon. Which is kind of full circle, since Spuds himself was doubtless inspired by Rick Springfield's dog Ronnie--the original bull terrier bowtie pimp who appeared on the cover of his albums Working Class Dog and Success Hasn't Spoiled Me Yet. All I know is, George Clinton needs a check behind all dog-related funk. (Like, today, preferably). Watch and enjoy below--and while you're up check Mayer's amazing cameo on the title track of Booker T's new album Sound The Alarm over here (via Okayplayer Premiere)
