Meek Mill has canceled a meeting with Donald Trump at the White House.

The Philadelphia rapper was expected to meet with Trump to discuss prison reform but has since decided to not attend, according to a statement from Mill's reps via Vulture.
"I was originally scheduled to be part of a panel on Prison Reform at the White House to help shed light on the issues within the system," the statement read. "Unfortunately, the focus turned to the President and myself which concerned me that it might take away from creating a positive result from today's discussions. As a result, I decided not to attend, so that the focus would be solely on fixing our prison system. Most importantly, I remain fully committed to improving our criminal justice system."
Initially, it seemed as Mill had canceled his meeting because of Jay-Z. TMZ had reported that the Brooklyn rapper had called Mill Thursday night "and made it clear ... meeting with Trump would be problematic for his image and for the cause." However, a rep for Jay-Z said that he didn't force or even convince Mill to cancel his discussion, and that Mill made the decision after speaking with several people.
The Philadelphia rapper is working on an untitled documentary series with Amazon Prime Video that “will follow his fight for exoneration while exposing flaws in the criminal justice system,” according to a report from Variety. Jay-Z will serve as one of the executive producers for the six-part series, and his very own Roc Nation will produce it alongside The Intellectual Property Corporation. The series is expected to premiere in 2019 exclusively on Prime Video.
Meek was released from prison a week ago and made his first public appearance at the Philadelphia Sixers vs. Miami Heat playoff game at Wells Fargo Center. Following his release the artist took to Twitter to issue the following statement:
“I’d like to thank God, my family, and all my public advocates for their love, support and encouragement during this difficult time. While the past five months have been a nightmare, the prayers, visits, calls, letters and rallies have helped me stay positive.“To the Philly District Attorney’s office, I’m grateful for your commitment to justice. I understand that many people of color across the country don’t have that luxury and I plan to use my platform to shine a light on those issues.”
“In the meantime, I plan to work closely with my legal team to overturn this unwarranted conviction and look forward to reuniting with my family and resuming my music career.”
