These MF DOOM NFT Collectors Are Selling Their Crypto & Donating to DOOM's Estate
Illust Space will host a crypto auction in collaboration with Rhymesayers, DOOM's wife Jasmine and the MF DOOM estate.
On October 23, MF DOOM teamed up with the Illust Space crypto marketplace to auction off a set of 11 NFT augmented reality masks for the market's beta test auction. The collaboration would turn out to be one of DOOM's last. Starting Thursday, March 11th at 7 PM, Illust Space will officially open its marketplace with a special MF DOOM crypto auction. The event was produced in collaboration with Rhymesayers, MF DOOM's wife Jasmine, and the DOOM estate. Sign up at Illust.Space for more info.
At the time, Illust CEO/co-founder Rob McCarty called the original event "a tipping point in augmented reality, the NFT market, and the ubiquitous digital layer that is a battleground for big tech."
“With Snap, Instagram, Niantic, Adobe, Microsoft, Alphabet and Apple fighting for augmented reality platform dominance," McCarty said, "the least we can do is ensure an equitable system for artists to create, sell, and track their work.”
As a part of the March auction, 10 percent of total proceeds will go to MF DOOM's estate in the form of royalties. Additionally, the current holders of the original 11 masks will make individual donations to the estate. According to Yahoo Finance, money generated from the sale will support the family as well as future creative projects.
Currently, the estimated value of the masks ranges from 10 to 50 ETH, which converts to between $15,000 and $75,000 USD.
