Beyond The Grave : Michael Jackson's Hologram Performs "Slave To The Rhythm" At The Billboard Music Awards
Michael Jackson's posthumous release XSCAPE LP dropped from beyond the grave last week with a little help from Timbalandand LA Reid. To cap off the release week, MJ's hologram made an appearance at last night's Billboard Music Awards, bringing a ghostly rendition of the King's "contemporized" rework "Slave To The Rhythm" to an adoring audience of Jacksonites. While it was certainly an impressive technological feat, there's something deeply disturbing about seeing an almost robotic take on the fallen legend grace a stage anywhere.
The moves are a bit clunkier, the words don't quite sync with his mouth; something just ain't right about this one. The funkdamentalist in me cheers gleefully, while the luddite in me is scared shitless. But hell, thats just this writer's take on things. MJ's XSCAPE is out now on Reid's Epic Records and you can purchase it today via iTunes, which gives you a perfect opportunity to hear all of the original demos of the tracks; a true-school treat for MJ lovers.
