Missy Elliott Drops New Bars On Diplo & Skrillex's "Take Ü There"
After her high-octane Super Bowl performance, Missy Elliott has returned as a fixture in current music news to the delight of basically everyone. But while her brief mini-set during the NFL's halftime show was a throwback romp through some her classic hits, Missy's latest move has provided us with brand-damn-new music--albeit in an unexpected package.
Earlier today Jack Ü, the working name of Diplo and Skrillex's duo group, released a new version of their club-ready track "Take Ü There" that features two completely new verses from Ms. Elliott. The EDM banger's original hook vocal from Canadian singer Kiesza remains intact, but Missy clearly has command of the tune in its new remixed form. This is classic Missy--bold in flow and bawdy in subject matter, and while dubstep denizens Skrillex and Diplo might not seem like the most natural hosts for her newest bars, the track remains a satisfying ride. Plus, edm is popular with the kids, we hear; Missy might just be making a brilliant new career move. Either way, listen to her remix of "Take Ü There below and relish in the fact that we once again have brand new Missy Elliott to simmer on.
