The music world suffered a great loss recently when jazz trumpet master Donald Byrd passed away. Leave it to Gilles Peterson to craft a perfect tribute. Focusing on Byrd's acoustic sessions, Peterson's tribute features all those numbers from his bop years that endeared him to jazz enthusiasts before he threw them all for a loop with his jazz/funk excursions in the 70s.
