These Are the Most Streamed TV Shows of 2022
With Stranger Things leading the pack, Osark, Wednesday, NCIS and more were some of the most-streamed TV shows of 2022.
Netflix takes the cake as the platform with the most-streamed TV shows of 2022. According to a recent streaming chart from Nielsen via Variety, hit Netflix series Stranger Things, led by its fourth season, was the most-streamed TV and overall program in the U.S. last year. Netflix dominated the U.S. streaming charts of 2022, including originals Wednesday and Osark, which aired its final season last year. The viral popularity of Wednesday has also greenlit the smash hit program for a second season.
Coming in at No. 1 on the top 15 streaming programs lists both overall and original, Stranger Things was viewed for 52 billion minutes across 34 episodes of the series. At No. 2 on the originals chart and No. 4 overall, Osark was viewed for 31.3 billion minutes. With 16.8 billion minutes viewed, Wednesday placed No. 3 on among originals and No.12 overall, an impressive feat for a show that currently has eight episodes.
Cobra Kai, Bridgerton, Virgin River, Dahmer, Love Is Blind, Inventing Anna, and The Crown concluded the Top 10 for the streaming originals. Prime Video also made an appearance on the list, with The Boys sitting at No. 11 with 10.6 billion viewing minutes and The Rings of Power at No. 15 with 9.4 billion minutes viewed.
A resurgence of throwback shows were also among the Top 15, including Grey’s Anatomy, Gilmore Girls, and Seinfeld. For the overall list, Disney Plus made an appearance with animated musical Encanto at No. 5, tallying 27.4 viewing minutes in 2022, with Bluey and The Simpsons also listed.
