Def Jam President Joie Manda Resigns + Moves To Interscope
April 01, 2013
Joie Manda - the President of Def Jam Records - has resigned his position and is relocating to Los Angeles where he will become the President of Urban Music at Interscope Records. Both labels are under the Universal Music Group umbrella, so he is staying within the larger company. He claims that the move is due to "personal reasons." Speaking with Billboard, Manda said that he is
"...excited to roll up my sleeves and get to work. They've done a great job with Kendrick Lamar and I'm really excited to build on that success."
Manda signed Common, Jill Scott and Rick Ross to Warner Brothers Records where he was previously the head of Urban Music and we at Okayplayer are excited to see what new talent and projects this move to Interscope might open doors for.
