Pass The Popcorn: Nas Tapped To Executive Produce Hip-Hop Doc 'Shake The Dust'
November 11, 2013
Nas will serve as executive producer of filmmaker Adam Sjoberg's hip-hop documentary Shake The Dust, which will also include new music from the Queens MC. The feature-length doc examines the lives of breakers and rappers in Colombia, Cambodia, Uganda and Yemen - all of them united by their mutual love for hip-hop culture and its importance as a tool for resistance and social change. The news of Nas' involvement follows the recent unveiling of the Nasir Jones Hip-Hop Fellowship at Harvard. Nas spoke about his involvement with the film in a recent statement:
“What these kids are doing around the world reminds me why I fell in love with hip-hop and how important it is as a creative and constructive outlet,” Nas said in a statement. “After hearing Adam’s vision for this project and hearing the stories, I was incredibly excited to help bring the film to global audiences who need to hear this surprising message of empowerment.”
