Nate Dogg's Headstone Updated With "King of Hooks" Engraving
The headstone also cites lyrics from Nate's 2001 solo album Music and Me.
Legendary G-funk vocalist Nate Dogg's headstone recently got a makeover. A Los Angeles-based engraver named Cemetery Tim handled the new designs. The new marker honors Nate as a "beloved son, brother, and father. Additionally, it honors Nate's three years of service in the Marine Corps.
This headstone update was yet another in a long line of Cemetery Tim's celebrity clients. He previously designed headstones for Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes of TLC, Eazy E, and MLB Hall of Famer Joe DiMaggio. Additionally, he designed the headstones for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr and wife Coretta Scott King. View more of Cemetery Tim's work on his official web site or Instagram page.
Nate Dogg passed away in 2011 from complications stemming from multiple strokes. Over the years, he earned five Grammy nominations. In 2020, his contributions to Anderson .Paak's Ventura earned him his first Grammy award. Ventura took home the Best R&B Album honors, beating out BJ the Chicago Kid, Lucky Daye, Ella Mai, and PJ Morton.
In addition to his well-known work as designated hook-man, Nate released three solo albums of his own. G Funk Classics, Vol. 1 & 2, Music and Me, and the self-titled Nate Dogg. Cemetery Tim took lyrics from the title track of his sophomore album for the updated headstone.
