Nelson George Presents His New Book ‘The Lost Treasures of R&B’ On 2/4 In Brooklyn
Acclaimed author, journalist, and director Nelson George makes a return to fiction writing with his new mystery novel, The Lost Treasures of R&B. To celebrate, Okayplayer is proud to co-present, with Akashic Books, a reading and conversation on Wednesday, February 4th at 7:30pm taking place at Greenlight Bookstore in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. Miles Marshall Lewis of Ebony.com will host the free event and lead the evening's conversation. The book (available to order online now) is the story of protagonist D Hunter's journey to locate a legendary, rare 45 vinyl record of a duet sung by Otis Redding and Diana Ross in the late 1960s. Rapidly gentrified Brooklyn serves as the backdrop for the story, as D works to unravel various mysteries, both criminal and musical -- consider us intrigued. This Friday, we'll premiere the audio soundtrack for the book -- curated by Nelson himself -- so stay tuned for more!
Check back on Friday for the music and join us on February 4th.
