New Outkast Music Rumored After Gucci Mane Snapchat Reveal
The last Outkast album the world was given was six years ago, when the Atlanta duo dropped Idlewild. Since then Big Boi and Andre 3000 have gone to do their own thing: the former dropping solo albums and collaborating with Phantogram, and the latter spitting fire guest verses for other artists (most recently Frank Ocean and Travis Scott).
But we might be getting some new material from two of Atlanta's finest, at least judging by what fellow Atlanta rapper Gucci Mane revealed in a recent Snapchat.
Yesterday (Monday) during Labor Day Mr. La Flare announced several artists that he's currently making records with, name dropping Outkast first.
"I just did a record for Outkast," Gucci said. "I just did a record for Wayne. I just did a record for Boosie. I just did a record for Project Pat. I just did a record for E-40."
Now, maybe Gucci actually meant only one of the members of Outkast, but we'd like to think he was referring to both Big Boi and Andre 3000 when he said that.
And honestly, new material from the duo wouldn't seem so ridiculous. Big Boi has remained active in music and although 3 Stacks has taken more of a focus in acting in recent years, he did hint that he wanted to make some new music.
"I still get time to think about music. [Shooting TV and film projects] is not so bad — it kind of puts you in the place where you're fiending to do music," Andre told Billboard back in January. "I've been holding [back] for a long time, so now I'm really interested in figuring out some type of music to do. I'm always recording."
We'll see what comes of the news but considering we've already gotten so much great new music this year, any new Outkast would definitely be the icing on the cake.
