Pass The Popcorn: Lenny Kravitz Out As Lead In Marvin Gaye Biopic
Originally slated to play soul icon Marvin Gaye in the planned biopic, rocker Lenny Kravitz has been replaced by Law & Order's Jesse L. Martin - a move rumored to have been coming since Kravitz was announced for the lead part. The change is likely the result of Martin having been cast as the lead five years ago in the original iteration of the production lead by James Gandolfini. Having changed hands and directions, the current Julien Temple produced film brings Martin back into the fold as the lead in Sexual Healing - a title change from the original Midnight Love. Though the title has changed the film will still focus on the singer's album Midnight Love and an embattled period of his life around the time of its recording in the early 80s - a darker chapter that included a move to Europe, drug addiction and tax troubles - that has found his family at odds with producers for focusing on the more controversial points of the singer's life. The film is slated to begin production in Europe later this month.
