Nile Rodgers & Chic Bring Back The Disco In A Sweat-Soaked Clip For New Single "I'll Be There"
Nile Rodgers & Chic have been teasing their resurgence via Rodgers' Facebook pagefor a minute now, but it seems the wait is finally over. Just moments ago, Rodgers let loose the video for "I'll Be There," the foundational disco crew's first single in 23 years. The Inez and Vinoodh-directed visual taps right back into the sweat&sequins-soaked vibes of the Studio 54 generation with an ultra nostalgic vantage that follows the disco ball daydreams of supermodel Karlie Klossas she makes her way from the living room floor to the dance floor. And, of course, Rodgers and the gang are holding down duties as the house band.
According to Nile's website, the track is a reworked outtake of Sister Sledge's "Love Somebody Today" renamed "I'll Be There" in tribute to his late, great writing partner Bernard Edwards, who tragically passed after a 1996 performance in Japan. The track will appear on the forthcoming full-length Chic & Nile Rodgers pieceIt's About Time, which is a joint sonic venture with NYC house duo The Martinez Brothers. There's no firm date on the new album just yet, but you can with the new visuals for Nile Rodgers and Chic's latest single "I'll Be There" below. Grab a copy of the single on iTunes if it's good to your eyes and ears. You can also head to Spotify to catch the equally funky b-side "Back In The Old School."
