Two Nina Simone Albums, 'I Put a Spell on You' and 'Pastel Blue' to Be Remastered on Vinyl

Nina Simone released the two albums four months apart in 1965.

On Thursday, Verve Records and Universal Music Group announced the reissuing of two Nina Simone albums, I Put a Spell on You and Pastel Blue. The albums, newly remastered on 180g vinyl, will be released November 6. The albums are available for pre-order now on Amazon.

Pastel Blue features two of Simone's most well-known hits, her cover of Billie Holiday's "Strange Fruit" and "Sinnerman." I Put a Spell on You peaked at number 99 on the Billboard 200, while Pastel Blue hit number 139, and number 8 on the United States' R&B charts. The title track from I Put a Spell on You was selected as one of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's "500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll."

The reissue is a part of the Acoustic Sounds reissue series. Back in June, Verve Label Group and Universal's UMe announced "audiophile grade" reissues of a slew of historic jazz records. The series also features John Coltrane's A Love Supreme, re-released in August, Louis Armstrong and Oscar Peterson's 1959 collaboration Louis Armstrong Meets Oscar Peterson.

"We're very honored to have Verve and UMe partnering with us to create what we believe will be the highest quality reissues of some of the world's greatest jazz albums," said Chad Kassem, CEO of Acoustic Sounds. "Each step in our production process is designed to meet the highest standards, and we want everyone who hears these albums to feel the love and hard work we put into everything we do."
