No ID Congratulates Common & John Legend For Oscar Win In A Heartfelt Open Letter
In case you didn't already have the warm&fuzzies from seeing the outpouring of emotion during Common & John Legend's performance of "Glory" last night at the Oscars, No ID did a pretty damn good job of capturing the weight of the moment. The producer and longtime homie to both of last night's MVPs shared a heartwarming note to his former collaborators via Instagram, praising them for the care and devotion they put into their work in one short, but sweet letter. And all before they had even won anything!
Legend and Common have already won at both the Grammys and Oscars for their co-penned anthem (produced by Legend), which begs the question: who's going to appropriate Selma for the small screen and Broadway to give the fellas a run at becoming the EGOTs? Well, whether the civil rights era period piece makes those jumps or not, it's hard to argue with the countless teary-eyed faces we saw at last night's white-washed award show (or the Academy for that matter, whoever they may be) that their performance, win and subsequent acceptance speeches are hitting all of the right notes. You can read the letter below, but be sure to jump back to watch Common & John Legend's heart-string-plucking performance for your self and see if you can't keep a dry eye.
