Obama: "I think empowering more women on the continent, that... is going to lead to some better policies."
Former President Barack Obama is now urging the empowerment of women to get into government and involved in social issues saying, “because men have been getting on my nerves recently.”
He made the statement while hosting a town hall with students at the African Leadership Academy in Johannesburg, South Africa on Wednesday— his second speech given in South Africa in the past two days after a previous stop in Kenya.

“Everyday I read the newspaper and just think like, ‘Brothers, what’s wrong with you guys? What’s wrong with us? We’re violent, we’re bullying. Just not handling our business,” he said, adding, “I think empowering more women on the continent, that… is going to lead to some better policies.”
Obama advised the students to care about the effects of politics.
“The one thing you can’t do is pretend that politics doesn’t matter and say to yourself ‘that’s too corrupt, that’s too broken, I’m not going to get involved in it’ because at some point if you are ambitious about what you are doing in your home country, you will confront politics.”
His additional remarks he said, "We see the utter loss of shame among political leaders where they're caught in a lie and they just double down and they lie some more. Politicians have always lied, but it used to be if you caught them lying they'd be like, 'Oh man.' Now they just keep on lying."
The statement appeared to be a critique of the current administration and Donald Trump's major policies on climate change and immigration.
