Okay Space Presents Schoolly D + Pablo Power's Art Exhibit 'Philly VS New York: A Declaration of Co-Independence'
On Saturday, March 4th, Okay Space and Black Swan Projekt will be presenting an art exhibit from artists Pablo Power and Schoolly D. The exhibit, called Philly VS New York: A Declaration of Co-Independence, will consist of individual works from each artist.
Schoolly D is best known for basically creating gangsta rap. And at this exhibit we will see a series of new collaborative works done in a 12" square format, referencing Schoolly D's extensive music catalog and his history of creating artwork for some of his most iconic album covers.
Schoolly D is from Philadephia; Pablo Power is based in New York. The two cities famously have had a contentious relationship. However, with this exhibit, the artists wanted to show the strength they can display if they collaborated. This show is a follow-up to their 2013 exhibition, Am I Black Enough?
The exhibition will open as a part of 2017’s Armory Arts Week annual Brooklyn Night on Saturday, March 04, 2017, from 6pm - 10pm at the Okay Space Gallery. The exhibit then runs until April 01.
If you want to go the opening, RSVP here.
