Outkast Gets The 'Rockabye Baby!' Treatment With 'Ms. Jackson' Lullaby [Premiere]
The minds behind Rockabye Baby have released Rockabye Baby! Lullaby Renditions of Outkast dedicated to the legendary Atlanta duo.
Outkast is for the children. Rockabye Baby, which specializes in giving mainstream music the lullaby treatment has released Rockabye Baby! Lullaby Renditions of Outkast dedicated to the ATLiens. The 12-track album includes lullaby remakes of their classics including "Rosa Parks," "Player's Ball," "SpottieOttieDopaliscious," "Ha Ya!" and more. To kick off the new Rockabye Baby! installment, the company has released a visual for "Ms. Jackson" exclusively for "funky baby bliss."
Rockabye Baby co-founder Lisa Roth shared her thoughts with Okayplayer about Outkast members André “André 3000” Benjamin and Antwan “Big Boi” Patton being "true originals."
"Together they created a hip-hop fusion, melding their Southern beats with funk, jazz, rock, gospel, and a try-anything spirit," said Roth in a statement. "Lyrically, that same playfulness came through in a mix of comedy, consciousness, love, pain, and some good old-fashioned braggadocio. All resulting in a musical world full of whimsy and authenticity; a surreal place that we couldn’t wait to visit. Don’t tell anybody, but this is one of my favorite albums we’ve ever released at Rockabye Baby."
The legendary Atlanta duo are no strangers to children's music, as Benjamin's Class of 3000 animated series aired on Cartoon Network for two seasons from 2006 to 2008. The series was later adapted into a musical at Atlanta's Alliance Theatre in March 2009, directed by Rosemary Newcott and featuring original songs by Benjamin.
