Pam the Funkstress, Legendary DJ For Prince & The Coup, Has Died
We lost a true hip-hop legendary DJ.
Bay Area legend Pam Warren, who is better known as DJ Pam the Funkstress, died on December 22nd due to organ failure, according to KQED.
Pam the Funkstress was one of the more important figures in the Bay Area's long storied hip-hop history.

The DJ is most famously known for being one half of the influential group The Coup, along with rapper Boots Riley. Together, the two released six albums, including the classic,Steal This Album.
Pam would get some more fame in 2016 when she became Prince's personal DJ, DJing his after-parties during the Piano and a Microphone Tour. Prince was so impressed with how Pam spun usually a mix of funk and old-school hip-hop that he gave her the nickname Purple Pam.

Boots Riley has not yet put out a statment.
Before she passed, Pam the Funkstress' family set up a GoFundMe to help pay for health expenses. We imagine they could still use the assistance.
