Patrick Stewart Responds to Professor X Making an Appearance in 'Doctor Strange in The Multiverse of Madness' Trailer
Professor X allegedly makes a voiceover appearance in the new Doctor Strange trailer, but X-Men actor Patrick Stewart claims it isn't him.
Is Patrick Stewart telling the truth or playing coy? Stewart, who has played Professor X for numerous X-Men movies, says that someone is replicating his voice in the new trailer for Doctor Strange in The Multiverse of Madness. While discussing the second season of his return as Jean-Luc Picard in Paramount+ series Star Trek: Picard, Stewart commented on the alleged use of his voice in the Doctor Strange sequel trailer.
"You know, people have been imitating my voice ever since I came on the stage 60 years ago," Stewart said of the trailer. "So, I can't be held responsible for that."
Although Doctor Strange fans previously assumed the trailer teased X-Men's arrival, its uncertain if the mutant superhero group will be a part of MCU's Phase 4 rollout. According to Stewart, Professor X's saga wrapped in 2017 Wolverine film Logan.
"Here's the problem... If we had not made Logan, then yes, I would probably be ready to get into that wheelchair one more time and be Charles Xavier," Stewart continued. "But Logan changed all that. Here's a tiny anecdote. The first time that Hugh [Jackman] and I saw the film in public was at the Berlin Film Festival, which is where the movie premiered. Shortly after Xavier's death scene, I found myself getting very emotional, but I had to keep a hold of myself because we were sitting in the middle of this cinema. And then I saw Hugh's hand come up to his eye and wipe away a tear. I thought, 'Dammit, the bugger's crying. Oh, let it out, Patrick.'"
Fans are also speculating if Deadpool is in the movie. Ryan Reynolds, who plays the anti-hero, is also denying he's in the new Doctor Strange movie. Reynolds told Variety:
"I guess I'm really not supposed to say anything about that, but I'm really not in the movie. I could be an unreliable narrator, but I'm promising you I'm not in the movie."
As Stewart continues to deny his involvement in the new Doctor Strange film, MCU fans will have to keep their eyes peeled.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness opens in theaters worldwide on May 6th.
