Pell Shares The Heavy & Roving New Single "Vanilla Sky"
Young NOLA MC Pell fired off an excellent single this week with "Vanilla Sky," a cut that's as trippy as it is tried and true in its heavy, modernist style. Pell rhymes from the perspective of a somewhat fractured mental state, making us question what's truly real, what's fiction and if there's really a difference. "Fingers just started itchin' / Lotion can't really fix it / Throw money at me I catch it / Don't worry 'bout how to pitch it" he rhymes, obfuscating rap tropes in a thin but sturdy layer of strangeness. It's right in step with the film of the same name, and one of the stronger indie releases we've heard all summer. For anyone who's been holding out on Pell, now is the time to dive right in. Listen to "Vanilla Sky" below, and download a copy for yourself over at Pell's website. Also, if you haven't caught one of the young MC's live show, you're truly depriving yourself of something great; check out his full list of tour dates below and purchase tickets here.
