"R. Kelly Is Not Welcome In Philadelphia": City Council Unanimously Passes 'Mute R. Kelly' Resolution
R. Kelly is no longer welcome in Philadelphia.
A week ago came news that a Philadelphia councilwoman had introduced a bill to banR. Kelly from the city of Philadelphia following the resurfacing of sexual assault allegations against the singer. Now, that bill has been passed unanimously.

Council-member Helen Gym announced that the Mute R. Kelly resolution had passed Thursday afternoon on Twitter.
"We reject a system that silences black women and accepts black pain. We believe survivors. R. Kelly is not welcome in Philadelphia," the statement read.
"This resolution is about fundamentally stating a public declaration that R. Kelly and sexual predators like him don't belong in a public sphere, with public support," Gym said via CBS Philly. "This symbolic act of solidarity puts all sexual predators on notice."
Kelly's sexual assault allegations have resurfaced following the release of the Lifetime documentary series Surviving R. Kelly. The docuseries featured interviews with over 50 people about Kelly, many of whom were women who detailed the artist’s alleged long history of sexual, physical, and mental abuse.
Since the series' release, Kelly has been dropped by Sony and is under a criminal investigation opened by the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office in Georgia. investigators have reached out to several survivors featured in the TV docuseries. It’s been confirmed that investigators reached out to Asante McGee, one of the women who claimed to have escaped captivity in R. Kelly’s Atlanta home, where more women and girls are alleged to still be held.
